Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to purchases made through maritimemodels.com.au.

Due to the custom and handcrafted nature of our products, refunds are handled carefully and in accordance with the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).


1. Custom-Made Models

Most of our models are custom-built to client specifications.

Because of this:

  • Refunds are not available for change of mind.

  • Deposits are non-refundable once work has commenced.

  • If a project is cancelled after production has started, costs incurred up to that point will be deducted from any refundable amount.


2. Deposits

  • A deposit may be required before production begins.

  • Deposits cover design time, materials, and production planning.

  • Once production has commenced, deposits are generally non-refundable.


3. Faulty or Damaged Items

If your model arrives damaged or has a manufacturing fault:

  • You must notify us within 7 days of receiving the item.

  • Please provide photographs and a description of the issue.

  • We will assess the claim and determine an appropriate solution.

Where a fault is confirmed, we may:

  • Repair the model

  • Replace the model (if possible)

  • Provide a partial or full refund

This will be determined on a case-by-case basis.


4. Shipping Damage

We take great care in packaging our models.

However, if damage occurs during shipping:

  • Notify us within 7 days of delivery.

  • Retain all packaging materials.

  • Provide clear photographs of the damage.

If shipping insurance was purchased, claims will be handled through the carrier. We will assist where possible.


5. Non-Refundable Situations

Refunds will not be provided for:

  • Change of mind

  • Incorrect details supplied by the client

  • Minor variations in colour, scale, or detailing inherent in handcrafted work

  • Damage caused after delivery


6. Australian Consumer Law

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law.

Under the ACL, you are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure, and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage.


7. Refund Processing

If a refund is approved:

  • Refunds will be issued using the original payment method.

  • Processing times may vary depending on your payment provider.

  • Shipping costs are non-refundable unless required by law.
